Don't you just wish sometimes that there were about 2 more days in a week and 4 more hours in a day? Balancing family, softball, work, freelance and "me" time is a very difficult and delicate task. If one gets out of balance, then someone isn't happy.....usually me. *cue Debbie Downer clip*

Anyhow, starting Friday I begin the weight loss program w/ Methodist. I am determined to do whatever it takes this time to lose some weight and get healthy. My goal is going to be 50 pounds over the next 5 months and hopefully I can just keep it going after that. I've come to the point of disgust with my current health situation and want to make sure I'm around long enough to see my son grow up. It's so hard to do because I'm a fan of food, but when it comes to living or dying young, I think the choice is obviously clear.

Signing off for today.

Apple does it again

From www.macworld.com: Several new products were introduced Wednesday, as Apple partnered with Motorola on an iTunes mobile phone—the 100-song ROKR—that can play digital music and was described by Steve Jobs as an iPod shuffle on your phone. I can't believe it. Sunday night he took his first steps and I found myself holding back tears of joy. It's just so amazing to know that Rebekah and I created such a perfect little human being. If having a child doesn't open someones eyes to how real and amazing God is, I don't know what could. There have been so many memorable things happen in the past year. From the week we spent in the hospital after Isaiah was born, Grandpa going to Heaven, a new home, a new job, a new car....time has just flown by. I know that a year from now there will be a new set of memories to look back upon, and my goal is to make sure those memories are made as a family that is in love with God and each other.

Busy Summer

What a busy time it's been lately. Work, projects, softball, exercise. I guess it's just a sign that it's summer time and things are going smoothlly. I can't imagine not having things to do, and I think my life would be strange if I had alot of "free time" on my hands. This weekend is Jamin's wedding, next weekend is Father's Day, then Cornerstone two weeks after that and then vacation two weeks after that. Hopefully I can get caught up on some of my freelance work in the near future so we can have a little extra cabbage to do some fun things on the weekends. Back to work I must go.

Anniversary

3 years. The "big" game, the grand-daddy of church league slow-pitch softball. RockChurch (4-2) vs. Calvary Baptist (5-1). With a win, we could make RockChurch history w/ 4 wins in a row and be tied for first place in our league. No pressure...

Update: We lost 12-13. It was an intense game all around. Afterwards there were some words w/ the other team and with each other, but we realized that it's just a game, and even though we lost, we have only lost by a total of 4 runs in our two defeats. We will meet this team again in the second half of the season, and hopefully the tides will turn.

Memorial Day

What a great Memorial Day spent w/ the Perry's & Williams'. Another busy week of life, but an enjoyable one. I'm in my 6th full week of work and loving every minute of it. It's not too often that you get a job that you absolutely love and get paid well for doing. On another note, I'm in my 4th week of an exercise program w/ <BlogItemURL>Lp</BlogItemURL>. It's been awesome so far and I can definately tell a difference in how I feel and look. My goal is to drop 100 pounds in the next year. Yes, you heard right...100 pounds. That's 8.3 a month, 1.923 a week, .274 a day, .011 a hour, or a tiny little amount every second. To do it, I'm cutting out all fastfood (except Subway), limiting my intake of Diet Coke, keeping on this exercise/weights program and eating the best I possibly can. After Bekah and I have now had Isaiah for almost 11 months, I realize how precious life is, and that I want to be around as long as possible to be with my wife and to see my son grows up. My fear is that if I continued down that path I was going, I would be around till I was about 60, and that wasn't going to cut it. So, here I am now with a fresh outlook on life and thankful for all the blessings that God has given me in these past 2 months.

Diet Coke & Rold Gold - Breakfast of Champions

I hate to sound so negative again, but it was another craptastic start to my day today. Transaction not available. So, I decided to go to Walmart and get some grub for breakfast. Then, low and behold, the freakin' door was locked to the side I usually go in. That is about the only word to describe the trip to Michigan/Wisconsin last week. Here is a brief rundown of the trip.

Saturday: We ended up getting a late start and left town around 9:30. Great driving weather and a fun trip all around. A few miles outside of Wausau, WI we saw a bear on the side of the road. First time I had ever seen one, so it was a pretty cool experience. We rolled into Ironwood, MI around 5:30 and had dinner at the house of the couple that invited us up for the youth camp we were to attend. (Laura & Otto) After dinner we headed to Lake Superior and had a bonfire and skipped rocks and lit off some fireworks. It was an incredible experience. According to my brother-in-law Jason, we also watched the Russian Space Station pass by overhead. *rolling eyes* We then got back to Ironwood to stay at a host home and I slept for about 2 hours because of the most obnoxious snoring from my brother-in-law in the same room. Needless to say, I was a little tired.

Sunday: Woke up at 6:30, showered and headed out to Ramsay to attend church service and played for offering for both services. Before first service, Jason managed to back Otto's car out and break his frontend off by hitting a light pole. Freakin' hilarious. Anyhow, service was great but that was just a beginning to the day. In the afternoon we headed down to the camp which was back in Wisconsin. We got there and took in the beautiful scenery before unpacking and getting setup for the evening service. Service began around 7:30 and lasted till around 10PM. It was incredible time of Worship and the Word from LP was life-changing. Several kids came forward and got saved or rededicated their lives, which fulfilled the entire purpose of our trip. The rest of the night was a blast hanging out with the kids and getting to know people.

Monday - Wednesday: Cold nights up in those parts. Mosquitos the size of helicopters. Shaving cream everywhere. Awesome services. Incredible Word. Awesome people. Service on Tuesday night was a breakthrough. To sum it up, it was life-changing for myself as well as for most of the kids. As much as I missed my wife and little boy, the trip was well worth it for the impact it made in my life and the lives of the kids there.

Side note: Wednesday Jason and I went fishing and I had either a Pike or Muskie on my line. Pulled our canoe to the middle of the lake and ended up breaking my line after about a 10 minute fight. ARGH!

Thursday: Left at 9:30 in the morning. Lots of pictures, hugs, and some tears. We compiled an email list the last night, so we can keep in touch with the campers. Took off and made pretty good time on the way home. Around 3PM we received a call from 99X letting us know that the band we were supposed to open for Friday night was not going to make it for the show. Therefore, we were asked to extend our set from 30 mintues to 45-60 mintues. Talk about a little bit more pressure.
Anyhow, we rolled back into town around 7:30 and I got to see my wife and little boy again. It's great to be back.

Beginning of Life

Today my son is 9 days old. It's crazy how much I miss being around home after having a week off. I leave for Michigan on Saturday morning and I'll be gone almost all week. It's going to be tough for me, and I'm sure it'll be especially tough for Mom and Isaiah. *sigh*
